Girl Scouts’ Meredith Foster spoke to our PR class on Friday about the daily activities of a PR representative for a non-profit organization. Meredith works with the Girl Scouts of North Central Alabama with the communications and advocacy program. In the midst of her busy schedule, Meredith took the time out to give us some pointers about life in non-profit public relations.
1) If you’re interested in working in non-profit PR, you need to be able to wear lots of hats.
2) If you get negative feedback from your PR, you should contact and confront the person who wrote it.
3) Go ahead and start building your portfolio, get published, and going PRSA.
