Meredith Foster, from the Girl Scouts of America shared some useful information with the a PR class at Samford last Friday. Before working at her current job, Foster earned a degree in both music and public relations. she also held a position at the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. Foster shared that since she works for a non-profit organization, there are no set budgets and she always has to be thinking ahead of the curve. A major part of this is knowing how to reach and connect with your target audience. If you are able to do so, it makes your job much easier. Also as a non-profit organization, using social media to reach that audience is a very useful tool. Social media gives organizations a free and simple way to let people know about announcements and other press releases.
