Meredith Foster spoke to the Principles of PR class on Friday, March 2, 2012. She is the Project Specialist for the Girl Scouts of America for North Central Alabama. Her main duties consist of creating copy for publications, writing press releases, managing social media, and also assisting in graphic design. She gave us these valuable tips:
1) Maintain relationships with the people that you work with frequently outside of your office, like TV stations and publications.
2) Building a portfolio is crucial to finding a job after college because it let’s your future employers get a look at what kind of skills you possess.
3) Try to get published. It is a very good thing to have your name in print.
