Takeaways from Meredith Foster, Project Specialist

Meredith Foster never has a dull day in her job as a project specialist for the Girl Scouts of North Central Alabama.

Foster graduated with a degree in both music and public relations. After a brief time working for the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, Foster made the move over to the Girl Scouts.

“If you work in a nonprofit,” she said, “you wear a lot of hats.”

Although Foster spends a lot of time writing press releases, generating copy for newsletters and maintaining the company’s Twitter, no two days are the same.

Foster’s day could include anyting from designing publications–weekly newsletters or magazines, writing press releases or updating social media such as blogs, Facebook and Twitter.

Foster also spends part of her day reading a multitude of public relations and social media related blogs including, Nonprofit Tech 2.0, Social Media Examiner and Social Mouse.
