John Richardson came to speak to our class on Friday, February 24th. He makes his living as an interactive director and oversees managing projects, budgeting, the creative department, and custom designs and websites. Here are some key points he made during his presentation:
1) Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is very important. It makes your company searchable and available to be viewed by a large audience.
2) There is no way to be successful in PR without being a part of the social media world. Get involved with such sites as Facebook and Twitter to keep the public informed about your company and it’s projects.
3) There is a lot of turnover in a career in communications and people moving around to different positions. It is very important to be knowledgeable about many programs and be a versatile employee in case you find yourself doing a job that you weren’t expecting having to do.
