Lori Merricks talks about the world of PR.

Lori Merricks visited her own college, Samford University, and spoke to a Public Relations class about the realness of PR today.  She began her presentation looking at the history of PR then transitioned to share what PR is, and does, today.  Lori Merricks works at Luckie and Company and has found herself extremely successful in the PR field of study.  She began as an intern and throughout the years has been promoted to well respected positions within Luckie and Company.  Here are some take-aways from her presentation:

  • Public Relations is not 100% controllable.
  • PR is about genuine human connections.
  • PR matters because what others say about you is more important than what you say about yourself.
  • While working in PR, you have to expect criticism.
