Corporate Social Responsibility is the expectation placed upon a company to fight the good fight against social problems and hold a stand for a philanthropic cause.
Corporations want to be seen as good neighbors, working alongside government agencies and other organizations to address social problems
This is represented at Samford University through our “Greek” system. All sororities and fraternities are required to have a philanthropic platform. In Alpha Delta Pi, the sorority girls raise money for the Ronald McDonald House. They also volunteer downtown and offer a variety of “hands-on” service. The Greeks are helping a cause and upholding their “corporate social responsibility”. Corporate citizenship needs to be a priority and the public expect it out of most corporations today.
