This semester I am following the blog PRNewser.
I recently read a blog about SNL’s Seth Meyer making fun of social media. Seth Meyers spoke at a event hosted by social marketing company Buddy Media. It was a event used to promote their “Buddy Media Platform” which is used by brands and agencies to do everything from content creation to analytics and monitoring. I thought it was hilarious and also a smart way to market social media. Because, to be perfectly honest, no one wants to listen to long, boring speeches on the importance of Social Media. But when you have a comedian, such as Seth Meyer, making lighthearted jokes concerning it, you will probably listen more. My favorite joke was that,
” If Myspace were a celebrity, it would be on Dancing with the Stars.”
Overall, I thought it was a great way to market social media and Buddy Media. Because Seth Meyer made it an enjoyable night but also a educating night.
